AOC and Jamaal Bowman heckle George Santos outside Capitol

Rep. George Santos was shouted down on Wednesday by a pair of his Democratic House colleagues demanding that he immediately resign from Congress.

The chaotic scene unfolded on the steps of the Capitol Building as Santos attempted to speak with reporters just after a Democratic attempt to force a vote on his expulsion was quashed by Republicans, who instead voted to refer the matter to the House Ethics Committee.

The jeers came from Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), both of whom are members of New York’s congressional delegation and part of the far-left “Squad” of House lawmakers.

“You’ve got to resign, bro!” Bowman shouted at the Long Island Republican, who was encircled by a throng of reporters.

Ocasio-Cortez then joined in the heckling, shouting, “You gotta go, man!”

The jeering clearly flustered Santos, who was indicted last week by the Justice Department on fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds and making false statement charges.

“I can’t continue to address you guys because there is a deranged member here,” Santos told reporters before making a swift exit.

After the embattled Republican departed, Bowman got into a shouting match with far-right Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

“Expel him! Save the party! Your party’s hanging by a thread!” Bowman shouted at Greene.

“No, we gotta get rid of Biden to save the country! Impeach Biden! Impeach Biden! Impeach Biden!” Greene responded.

The pair argued back and forth about guns, the border, migrant children and education all in the span of a minute before Ocasio-Cortez intervened to break up the impromptu debate.

“She ain’t worth it, bro,” Ocasio-Cortez told Bowman after tapping him on the shoulder, eliciting laughter from New York’s 16th District representative and ending the argument.

Bowman is no stranger to lively debate outside the confines of the House floor.

Earlier this year, he engaged in a loud but friendly back-and-forth with Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) on the steps of the Capitol Building over how they think their preferred presidential candidates would fare in the 2024 election.

Bowman also got into a heated debate with Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) in March as he shouted at Republicans leaving the Capitol for not backing stricter gun control measures in the aftermath of the deadly shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville.

Bowman’s tirade caught the attention of Massie, a gun owner and co-chairman of the House Second Amendment Caucus, who proceeded to briefly debate the enraged New York lawmaker on gun violence issues.
