Chad Doerman ‘snapped’ before allegedly shooting 3 sons dead: dad
Chad Doerman, the 32-year-old Ohio father arrested Thursday after allegedly gunning down his three young sons, “just snapped,” his father told The Post Saturday.
Keith Doerman, 59, who now lives in Port Richey, Florida, with his wife, Gloria, 58, said they are both “still trying to comprehend” how Chad could have murdered his own children but added that “we have no answers.”
“He just snapped,” the elder Doerman told The Post Saturday.
“There was something going on in his life that he couldn’t handle no more. I can’t talk to him, they aren’t letting me talk to him so I don’t have any answers. He probably hid a lot of stuff from me.”
Harrowing police bodycam footage shows the moment officers came upon Chad calmly sitting down next to his rifle Thursday afternoon after allegedly shooting his three young sons to death.
The boys were ages 3, 4 and 7.
“You show me your hands now!” screams a cop as he advances across a grassy yard toward the Clermont County home where the 32-year-old is believed to have gunned down his three boys.
“Stand up and walk to me!”
But Doerman remained calmly sitting on a stoop at what is apparently his home, the footage shows.
Doerman later allegedly confessed to lining up his three young sons and executing them with a rifle at their home — as his terrified daughter, Alexis, fled, screaming that he was “killing everyone,” prosecutors said Friday.
Doerman, who’s also accused of shooting the boy’s mother in the hand, has been charged with aggravated murder over the sickening ordeal that unfolded at the Monroe Township home Thursday afternoon.
Keith Doerman said that he had just visited Chad last week.
“He seemed fine,” Doerman said. “He was a jokester and a fun-loving guy.”
Doerman insisted that Chad had no history of mental illness or strange behavior or a criminal record.
However, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Friday that Chad once choked his father — in 2010.
The case ultimately was dismissed, apparently after the alleged victim — identified as his father Keith — failed to appear as a prosecution witness, the outlet reported.
The elder Doerman was 46 at the time the charges were filed in July 2010. Chad Doerman pleaded not guilty to domestic violence on July 26, 2010, docket filings show. The case was dismissed on Aug. 26 of that year.
“That was not true,” Keith Doerman told The Post. “The story was wrong and the judge dismissed the case.”
Doerman said he did not want to elaborate further and began crying.
“I can’t think right now,” he said and hung up the phone.
Five days ago, Chad Doerman apparently changed his Facebook profile picture and posted a photo of his three young blond sons. He posted several photos of the boys on his page, including one of him showing one boy to fish.
