Judd Trump beats John Higgins to claim CBSA title in Huangguoshu – ‘Nice start to the season’
Judd Trump set himself up for the new season with victory in a Chinese Billiards and Snooker Association (CBSA) Tour event in Huangguoshu.
A number of star names from the snooker scene, Trump among them, jetted off to China.
The likes of Jack Lisowski and Stephen Hendry exited the tournament early on, but Mark Allen, John Higgins, Kyren Wilson, Mark Williams and Trump had good runs.
Yuan Sijun, a quarter-finalist at the British Open and Welsh Open last season, was the one local player to break the European dominance as he advanced to the semi-finals.
The last-four matches saw Higgins beat Yuan 4-0, and Trump edged out Wilson 4-3.
Higgins faced Trump in the final, but it was a relatively one-sided affair as Trump claimed a 5-1 success.
Taking to social media following his win, Trump said: “Nice start to the season in China.”
Trump and co. will now head back to mainland Europe for the European Masters in Germany, which gets underway on August 22.
It will only be a short stay in Europe for Trump and his fellow professionals, as the Shanghai Masters is back on the menu and the players will return to China for the start of the tournament on September 11.
