Elon Musk grew to hate Twitter logo, grousing, ‘All these damn birds have to go’: book

Elon Musk grew to hate Twitter’s blue bird logo and vowed to replace it with his own vision, telling his team, “All these damn birds have to go, a new biography says.

The CEO of X, formerly known as Twitter, was allegedly amused at first when he took over the company last year and saw Twitter’s iconic logo plastered everywhere around its San Francisco headquarters, according to an excerpt of “Elon Musk” published in the Wall Street Journal on Thursday.

But Musk’s light-heartedness eventually grew into disdain, with biographer Walter Isaacson musing that the bright blue bird clashed with the CEO’s serious and dramatic vision for the social media platform.

Musk allegedly told a lieutenant at the company his plan to get rid of the classic logo, with the CEO moving months later to replace it with his X label, a long-sought over goal after he purchased the domain X.com years before.

Musk took out the Twitter logo from the exterior of its San Francisco headquarters over the summer and placed a big X at the top to symbolize the complete change.

The company got into a legal spat with city officials after San Francisco police stopped the immediate removal of the Twitter logo, citing improper work and unsafe conditions.

The city has since launched an investigation over allegations the company did not acquire the proper permits to replace the logo.

The insight into Musk’s feelings over his $44 billion takeover of the site comes as the excerpts from his biography also reveal turmoil in his personal life, primarily with the breakdown between the CEO and his daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, 19.

Musk has allegedly washed his hands of any responsibility for the recent rift between himself and his transgender daughter — and instead blamed the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica for infecting her with the “woke mind virus.”

Wilson’s transition was part of a domino effect that led to Musk buying the social media app as part of his mission to stomp out wokeness, according to the biography.

The SpaceX founder told Isaacson that he was initially “generally sanguine” with his child’s decision until in April 2022, when Wilson supposedly “became a fervent Marxist and broke off all relations with him.”
