Vegas man charged for threatening Jewish senator

A Las Vegas man has been arrested for allegedly leaving a Jewish senator vile antisemitic voicemails — calling her “vermin” and vowing to “finish what Hitler started,” according to a federal complaint.

John Anthony Miller, 43, is now facing federal charges of threatening a federal official for the messages he left between Oct. 11 and Oct. 19, and again on Oct. 24.

The federal complaint does not name the senator Miller allegedly threatened, but Jacky Rosen, a Democrat from Nevada who describes herself as an “outspoken supporter of Israel,” confirmed she was the recipient.

“Threats against public officials should be taken seriously,” a spokesperson for her office said in a statement, adding: “Senator Rosen trusts the US Attorney’s Office and federal law enforcement to handle this matter.”

The messages called Rosen, who once served as president of her local synagogue, slurs like “vermin” and threatening to “finish what Hitler started,” according to the complaint.

The caller once even tried to tie the senator’s support of Israel to her faith in a message saying, “You done picked your side bitch and you done chose evil. I don’t give a f–k if you were born into it or not, bitch, you are f–king evil, bitch and we’re gonna exterminate you, f–k,” according to the complaint.

Two days later, he allegedly called again and said: “Senator, I’m sorry to say, but ya know what, you’re a piece of s–t and you’re gonna burn in f–king hell for your f–ing crimes.”

Other messages mentioned Israeli settlements and the West Bank.

In one ominous message, the caller even allegedly told Rosen he would see her soon.

Then Miller tried to get into the Las Vegas courthouse on Oct. 18 to see the senator, but was refused entry, the complaint says.

At that point, he allegedly started walking down Las Vegas Boulevard yelling that he wanted “to kill every last Israeli terror-f–ing-rist.”

A final message reportedly came on Oct. 24, this time from an unidentified number, when the caller threatened the senator’s family.

The voice and speech pattern matched that of the earlier voicemails, and police were able to trace the cell phone number from the earlier calls to a T-Mobile account registered to Miller.

He had also left his name in one of the messages, police claim, and they were also able to confirm his identity based on surveillance footage from outside the federal courthouse on Oct. 18 — comparing his likeness to that of a previous mugshot, according to the complaint.

Israel-Hamas war: How we got here

2005: Israel unilaterally withdraws from the Gaza Strip over three decades after winning the territory from Egypt in the Six-Day War.

2006: Terrorist group Hamas wins a Palestinian legislative election.

2007: Hamas seizes control of Gaza in a civil war.

2008: Israel launches military offensive against Gaza after Palestinian terrorists fired rockets into the town of Sderot.

2023: Hamas launches the biggest attack on Israel in 50 years, in an early-morning ambush Oct. 7, firing thousands of rockets and sending dozens of militants into Israeli towns.

Terrorists killed more than 1,400 Israelis, wounded more than 4,200, and took at least 200 hostage.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was quick to announce “We are at war,” and vowed Hamas would pay “a price it has never known.”

Gaza health officials — which are controlled by Hamas — report at least 3,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 12,500 injured since the war began.

That mugshot was from March 2022, but is unclear what Miller was arrested for then.

He is due back in court on Nov. 13.

The threats apparently came after Rosen joined a bipartisan delegation of senators to visit Israel in the aftermath of the Oct. 7 attack.

Following the trip, she urged the Senate to approve supplemental defense funding to the country and to quickly confirm Jack Lew as the ambassador, according to NBC News.

Rosen has been an outspoken supporter of Israel and has pushed for the US to send more resources to the country.

As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Rosen also pressed the Defense Department to transfer various unused military assets to Israel.

Meanwhile, around the country antisemitic incidents have risen nearly 400%, compared to the same period last year, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

Speaking about the increase in antisemitism on Monday, as President Biden unveiled his plan to combat anti-Jewish hate, Rosen told reporters: “This is what Jews all around the world are facing.”
