1 Dead and Multiple Hostages Rescued in Houston F.B.I. Operation
One person died and several hostages were rescued during an operation that lasted several days and involved federal and local law enforcement officials in North Houston, the F.B.I. said in a statement on Thursday.
All of the hostages had been “safely rescued” by Thursday morning, the F.B.I. said. Agents with the F.B.I. were involved, and at one point an agent opened fire. No agents were injured, officials said. The agency’s shooting review team will “conduct a thorough, factual, and objective investigation of the events,” the F.B.I. said.
The F.B.I. said it was assisting the Waller County Sheriff’s Office. It was unclear on Thursday morning who was killed by whom, and what the nature of the hostage situation was. A call to the sheriff’s office was not immediately returned.
On Thursday morning, multiple law enforcement officials were at the scene on Esplanade Boulevard, near Greenspoint Drive in North Houston, a local news station, Fox26, reported.
