1 killed, 9 injured in overnight shooting in St. Louis

Ten people under the age of 18 were shot — including one fatally — in an overnight shooting in downtown St. Louis, police said.

The shooting broke out around 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning at 14th and Washington Avenue, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said, according to CBS News 4.

A total of 10 minors were shot during the early morning incident, including one who was pronounced dead at the scene, the outlet reported.

Witnesses told the television station that the shooting unfolded inside one of the buildings located at the busy corner in the city’s Downtown West neighborhood.

Ten juveniles were shot, one fatally, in St. Louis overnight.

Images from the scene showed police had barricaded off the area near the City Museum parking garage, Levin’s clothing store and Levels, a Nigerian restaurant.

Police have not shared the ages, genders or conditions of the victims. As of Sunday morning, it was also unclear what led to the deadly shooting.

A Homicide Unit has been requested to investigate the incident.
