10-year-old invites entire school to ‘secret’ house party
Surprise parties can be fun — but one mom didn’t enjoy the surprise element as much when she was alerted to the fact she was supposedly throwing a party for her son.
Diane Campbell, 50, from Manchester, was shocked when got a call from a parent at her 10-year-old son Max’s school — enquiring about an end-of-school party he’d been handing out invites for.
“My friend messaged me to tell me that her son was excited to come to Max’s party,” she tells South West News Service.
“‘I messaged her back and said “what party?’” she continues. “She told me Max had invited everyone from his class to an end-of-school party.”
Campbell, a professional singer and DJ, had to make a Facebook status asking people to message her because she had no idea how many invites the schoolboy had handed out for the soiree, which he’d made for a 4 p.m. start on July 25.
“It’s a big school and there are still loads of parents I haven’t even met or spoken to,” she explains.
The mom-of-three says her son found the invitation cards — left over from a previous birthday party — and filled them out without her knowing
“The neighbors and friends did joke that they were going to gate crash the party with wine and beer,” she joked. “I’m thankful we have Facebook, otherwise I’d have had 31 kids at my door.”
