11 pro-Palestinian protesters arrested in London

At least 11 pro-Palestinian protesters were cuffed by London’s Metropolitan Police Saturday, as tens of thousands took to the streets to demand a ceasefire in Gaza.

One man was accused of waving a placard that could incite hatred near Piccadilly Circus, London’s equivalent to New York’s Times Square, while others held signs threatening to blow up the House of Parliament, according to The Independent.

The protesters started in Trafalgar Square, according to the outlet.

One woman reportedly threw an image of the Star of David into a trashcan that was covered in the slogan: “Let’s keep the world clean.”

The British Transport Police are also looking into an incident where riders on the London Underground were chanting “smash the Zionist settler state,” The Independent reported.

White sacks stained in red paint to mimic dead babies were laid on the ground and carried by women at the protests in Trafalgar Square.

Similarly to the US, protesters in London blamed their government of being “guilty” for the deaths of nearly 10,000 in the Gaza Strip.

A speaker at the event said: “Victory to the Palestinian resistance, until there is a free Palestine from the river to the sea and Zionism, the repressive, monstrous state of Israel is smashed and torn down, brick by brick, rule by rule.

“The flag of Palestine, if we stand with Palestinians, if we build a revolutionary, anti-imperialist movement in our communities from the grassroots, if this movement stands with the people of Palestine, imagine in our lifetimes, someday, the flag of Palestine will fly high and proud above the city of Jerusalem,” they said, according to Daily Mail.

Other protests took place across the UK, including in Manchester and Glasgow, where attendees waved Palestinian flags and called for a ceasefire.

International protests also broke out, including in DC and NYC, where attendees accused Biden and other politicians of genocide.

American rapper Macklemore showed up to the DC protest, where he called the deaths of more than 9,000 in Gaza “genocide” while protesters called for the destruction of Israel.

Across several protests, attendees yelled “free, free Palestine,” “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” and “victory to the Intifada.”
