$80K reward offered in search for Francisco Oropesa in Texas

Authorities offered a whopping $80,000 reward for information that leads to the capture of the gunman accused of killing five people in Texas and who was reportedly in the country illegally and previously been deported.

The FBI acknowledged Sunday it had “zero leads” in its search for suspect Francisco Oropesa who is considered armed and dangerous.

He’s accused of killing five people, including an 8-year-old boy Friday night with a rifle before quickly fleeing.

“What we need from the public is any type of information, because right now we’re just we’re running into dead ends,” James Smith, the FBI’s special agent in charge, said during Sunday’s news conference.

“I can tell you right now, we have zero leads.”

In hopes of getting help from the public, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott put forward $50,000 in reward money with local officials and the FBI chipping in another $30,000 for any critical intel.

“We’re asking everyone for your help so we can bring this suspect – or monster, I will call him -– to justice,” Smith said.

San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers added he hopes the large sum of reward money will “be a good motivator” to get someone to turn the suspect in.

“My main intent and focus is 100% on capturing this suspect,” he said.

The 38-year-old fugitive was in the US illegally and was previously deported, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement source told Fox News Digital.

He has re-entered the country “multiple” times with his last ICE encounter dating back to 2016, the source said.

Oropesa, a married father, allegedly shot and killed the five victims, ages 8 to 31 and believed to be from Honduras, after he was asked to stop firing off rounds in his yard, authorities said.

The slain victims were identified as Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25; Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21; Julisa Molina Rivera, 31; Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18, and Daniel Enrique Laso, 8.

Oropesa was identified as the suspect through a card issued to Mexican residents living outside the country. Footage of a doorbell camera also helped investigators pinpoint Oropesa.

Police said they recovered the AR-15-style rifle they believe used in the grisly shooting, but he could have other weapons.

The suspect’s wife has also been interviewed “two or three times,” Caper said Sunday.

Authorities from multiple agencies have been scouring the area for Oropesa, including going door-to-door. Drones, dogs and horseback riders have gone through thick forests around the town of Cleveland where Friday’s deadly gunfire rang out.

Smith, the FBI agent, said he’s sure Oropesa has contacted friends.

The FBI in Houston said in a tweet Sunday it was now calling the suspect Oropesa, not Oropeza to “better reflect his identity in law enforcement systems.”

Federal authorities also blasted out images of the fugitive in the tweet Sunday.
