American Olympian Mikaela Shiffrin collects 77th World Cup win with St Moritz Super G success
Mikaela Shiffrin won the women’s Super G at St Moritz on Sunday afternoon.
The American skiing legend added another victory to her resume in the 2023 World Cup, and made it three wins already for the nascent season.
The 27-year-old Olympian boasts two gold medals, including one in the Super G, and she gave another example of her sustained excellence when she recorded a time of 1:13.62 as one of the first entrants of the day.

‘Superb!’ – Shiffrin collects 77th World Cup win with St Moritz success
AN HOUR AGO
Last season Shiffrin finished third in both the Slalom and the Super-G, and second in the downhill, claiming the overall title.
This season she again stands in top spot but has had to miss some events, and will be pleased with this Super-G victory as it is the first of the season in the discipline.
Second place went to Elena Curtoni, who was 0.12s behind the winner. The Italian will reflect on an impressive weekend, having won the downhill on Sunday.
If she keeps up her form, then she stands a decent chance of finishing in the top 10 in the overall classification at the end of the season.
The final podium spot went to France’s Romane Miradoli.
Fifth spot was claimed by Sofia Goggia, who had an eventful weekend. She won yesterday’s slalom and took second in Friday’s run.
However she might have done even better were she not forced to undergo surgery in Milan for broken fingers, making it a remarkable performance to even be able to compete.
