Tottenham set to complete £250,000 British transfer-record signing of Chelsea striker Bethany England – report
Tottenham Women are reportedly closing in on a British transfer-record signing of Chelsea forward Bethany England.
While that is the record between Women’s Super League clubs, Keira Walsh is the most expensive English player moving from a WSL club after she left for a figure said to be £400,000 to join Barcelona from Manchester City.

The move for England will be seen as an attempted solution to Tottenham’s current profligacy in front of goal, having scored just 11 goals in the first nine games of the season, a record that looks worse given the context of eight goals coming in a single match.
They are currently eighth in the table.
England joined Chelsea from Doncaster in 2016, and also had a successful loan spell at Liverpool during the 2017/18 season, scoring 10 goals in 16 appearances.
The striker also scored 22 goals in both the following two seasons, including the 2019/20 season that was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic, though England emerged as a winner of the league that season with Chelsea.

England has 21 caps for her national team, England, after making her debut in 2019, and has scored 11 goals so far in her international career, but didn’t feature for a minute in the victorious 2021 Euros campaign, and was not selected in the Lionesses’ last two squads.
England has played six times for Chelsea this season, notching a single goal. Over the course of her career with Chelsea she has 70 goals in 148 appearances.
In total in club football she has 99 goals in 236 appearances.
