Damar Hamlin: NFL star in critical condition after cardiac arrest during Buffalo Bills v Cincinnati Bengals
NFL star Damar Hamlin is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest during the Buffalo Bills’ match with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hamlin collapsed after an innocuous collision with Bengals receiver Tee Higgins during the first quarter.
He was treated on the pitch for over 15 minutes before being rushed to hospital. The match was later postponed.

“Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals,” read a statement from the Buffalo Bills.
“His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”
Messages of support have flooded in on social media, while a number of Bengals and Bills fans gathered to pray outside the hospital.

The awful incident occurred when Hamlin attempted to tackle Higgins. Although he returned to his feet after the impact, Hamlin then collapsed on his back.
Emergency medical staff gave him CPR and oxygen on the field, with a number of players visibly distressed. Hamlin was later driven off the pitch in an ambulance.
“Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills. We will provide more information as it becomes available,” the league said in a statement.
“The NFL has been in constant communication with the NFL Players Association which is in agreement with postponing the game.”
