‘The Munsters’ gets colorful remake in Rob Zombie film first look teaser
It’s time to travel to 1313 Mockingbird Lane once again.
A teaser trailer for Rob Zombie’s highly anticipated film remake of the popular 1960s sitcom “The Munsters” dropped Wednesday.
The clip, shared on social media by Zombie, features Jeff Daniel Phillips (“Westworld,” “Claws”) as door-crashing Herman Munster, Sheri Zombie — wife of Rob — as Lily Munster and Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa Munster.
Zombie announced in June 2021 that he would be directing a remake that, according to him, had been his dream project for decades.
“Attention Boils and Ghouls! The rumors are true! My next film project will be the one I’ve been chasing for 20 years! THE MUNSTERS! Stay tuned for exciting details as things progress,” Zombie wrote on his Instagram account last summer.
In the months following the announcement, Zombie has posted several behind-the-scenes photos.
This adaption will be markedly different from Zombie’s previous flicks. In a twist, the film will be rated PG.
“For those of you speculating, wondering and assuming that ‘The Munsters’ would be dirty, violent and nasty … well, you are wrong,” Zombie has since written.
“It’s all good down on Mockingbird Lane.”
Zombie has said in the past that he is a “Munsters” superfan and even named his song “Dragula” after the Munsters family’s own vehicle.
The original sitcom, which premiered in 1964 and ran till 1966, meshed classic Hollywood monsters with suburban life. It managed to beat the similarly themed “Addams Family” in ratings until it was dethroned by the classic Adam West-starring series “Batman.”
The film will be released in theaters as well as streamed on Peacock later this year.
