German Francesco Friedrich narrowly beats Great Britain’s Brad Hall to bobsleigh gold in Innsbruck
Francesco Friedrich completed another fabulous bobsleigh season by holding off Great Britain’s Brad Hall to win a fifth Crystal Globe.
The four-man season came down to the wire between the two rivals at the final event in Innsbruck.

And it was Friedrich, the sport’s dominant force who bagged a fifth straight World Championship gold last week, who claimed the title.

The German, along with teammates Thorsten Margis, Candy Bauer and Alexander Schueller, held a slender 0.07s advantage over Hall after their first runs and then converted his advantage into a fifth win of the season.
It was not without drama, as Friedrich made a mistake during his last run and looked to have lost control at turn nine. However, he regained his composure and beat Hall by 0.19s.

Hall has secured Britain’s first overall World Cup medal since 1995 in a brilliant season that has seen him and teammates Arran Gulliver, Taylor Lawrence and Greg Cackett win three of the eight stages.

Johannes Lochner was third on the day and in the overall standings after another solid campaign that brought five podiums.
