Andreas Wellinger romps to Rasnov gold ahead of the World Championships with a second World Cup win in a week
Andreas Wellinger maintained his fine form ahead of the World Championships with a second World Cup win in a week on the normal hill in Rasnov.
The German, who grabbed his first win of the season in Lake Placid a week ago and then backed it up with a silver medal 24 hours later, narrowly beat Ziga Jelar to the top spot.
Jumps of 94 and 99 metres helped him to 240.4 points, just 0.2 more than Jelar earned for his two efforts of 91.5 and 98.5 metres.

Bronze went to Germany’s Karl Geiger, who scored 237.9 points for his 91-metre and 99-metre jumps.
Wellinger will hope to carry his form into next week’s World Championships in Planica, Slovenia, which begin with the normal hill event on February 25.
Meanwhile, Anna Odine Strom claimed her third win of the season, while Eva Pinkelnig had to settle for a third consecutive silver.
Odine’s 84-metre jump scored her 98.1 points, one point clear of Pinkelnig, while Julia Muehlbacher finished third.
