Premier League – Everton sink Leeds, Fulham snatch late winner at Brighton, Bournemouth win at Wolves

Seamus Coleman grabbed a potentially vital winner for Everton at home to Leeds United, with a 1-0 win for the home side moving them into 16th.

The 34-year-old full-back scored on 64 minutes and three points leaves them a point above West Ham, in 18th spot, as manager Sean Dyche attempts to avoid relegation with his new side.

Leeds, also boasting a new manager in the form of Michael Skubala, are in 19h spot, two points from safety.

Another team flirting with the drop, Wolves, lost 1-0 at home to Bournemouth, who are in 17th spot.

Marcus Tavernier scored just after the restart in the second half, with the south coast side just two places behind the home side at the end of the match.

Brentford and Crystal Palace are separated by nine points in eighth and 12th place respectively, after the Bees earned a late draw.

Eberechi Eze scored in the 69th minute and it looked as if Patrick Vieira’s Palace would leave with all three points, only for a 96th-minute equaliser from Vitaly Janelt leading to the points being shared.

Brighton stumbled as they attempted to maintain their chase for a European spot at the end of the season after they lost 1-0 to Fulham, who now sit one spot above the Seagulls, in sixth, and three points clear of them on 38 points – just three off a Champions League place.

Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Newcastle United, who have lost Nick Pope for the Carabao Cup final as a result of his early red card before Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo’s goals.

Earlier in the day, Arsenal reinvigorated their title challenge when they won 4-2 at Aston Villa, going two points clear of Manchester City who drew 1-1 at Nottingham Forest. Mikel Arteta’s men could establish a five-point cushion if they win their game in hand.

Chelsea’s poor form continued with a 1-0 defeat at home to Premier League strugglers Southampton.

On Sunday in the weekend’s remaining top flight fixtures, Manchester United play host to Leicester City, while Tottenham are at home to West Ham in a London derby.
