PSG ready to re-hire Thomas Tuchel, Rafael Benitez on West Ham standby if club sack David Moyes – Paper Round
PSG ready to re-hire Tuchel
Paris Saint-Germain could look to reappoint Thomas Tuchel if they decide to part ways with current head coach Christophe Galtier, the Standard reports. PSG won a close encounter 4-3 with Lille on the weekend, but otherwise it has a been a poor start to the year, with Bayern Munich beating the French champions 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash. Tuchel was sacked by PSG in December 2020, but the club would be willing to accept they made a mistake.

“Tuchel is looking for a club that is competing for titles in any of Europe’s top five leagues having turned down at least one mid-table Premier League club already. Jose Mourinho has also been mooted as a potential option for the hot seat at Parc Des Princes but he is likely to remain at Roma.”

Benitez on West Ham standby
With West Ham dropping into the relegation zone after their loss to Tottenham, the club’s hierarchy have Rafael Benitez on standby should results further deteriorate under David Moyes, according to the Daily Mail. Moyes is safe for now, but he is treading on thin ice with a match against Nottingham Forest next at home this Saturday.
“Sportsmail has been told the club’s hierarchy have no clear ‘Plan A’ with regards to potential successors they view as upgrades, having already seen their ambitious targets of Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel turn down the opportunity to enter into discussions.”

Leeds turn to Gracia
Over at Leeds, Benitez is not yet interested in the vacancy, the Mail reports, with the Premier League strugglers turning to former Watford manager Javi Gracia. Having left Al-Sadd, Gracia is available and would be willing to accept a short-term contract as Leeds aim to beat the drop.
“However, Saturday’s performance and 1-0 defeat to Everton triggered further talks among the worried club hierarchy who are fearful the threat of relegation has become a very real prospect.”

Alejandro Garnacho has reached an agreement in principle to sign a new five-year deal at Manchester United, ESPN reports. Only details relating to image rights are halting the announcement, and the 18-year-old is set to extend his contract until 2028.
“Garnacho has since made 27 appearances for United, scoring three goals, and has been one of the revelations of the Premier League season so far.”
