Barcelona’s Alexia Putellas has won The Best FIFA Women’s Player award for the second year in a row, beating England’s Beth Mead to the prize.

Midfielder Putellas was top scorer in the league with 18 goals and also in the Champions League with 11 goals.
She did not feature at Euro 2022 after suffering a serious knee injury on the eve of the tournament in early July and has not played since.
“If you have a dream and you fight for it as hard as you can, you can achieve that dream,” said Putellas at the award ceremony in Paris.
“The most important thing is to enjoy yourself along the way.”
Mead was named Player of the Tournament at Euro 2022 after scoring six goals to fire England to their first major trophy.
The Arsenal forward finished as joint-top scorer alongside Germany’s Alexandra Popp.
In December she became the first female footballer to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
Mead has not played since suffering an ACL injury in November.
USA’s Alex Morgan was also nominated for the award.
