WST Classic snooker 2023 – Latest scores, results, schedule, order of play, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump in action

The inaugural WST Classic begins on Thursday as a late replacement for the cancelled Turkish Masters and will be the last tournament for most players before the World Championship.

All of snooker’s biggest names will be in action including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump, Neil Robertson, Mark Selby, Mark Williams, John Higgins and Mark Allen.

Although many think there is no such thing as a form guide heading into the Crucible, it will be crucial for the top players to find some confidence and get psychologically into the right mindset before the big one.

Who needs what at WST Classic as O’Sullivan, Trump and Robertson face missing huge event

Unless a player is in the top eight on the one-year ranking list, which will get them into the Tour Championship – taking place in Hull between March 27 and April 2 – there will be no more tournament action before the World Championship qualifiers and the Crucible itself in April, the latter beginning on April 15.

When and where is the 2023 WST Classic?

The WST Classic will be held in Leicester at the Morningside Arena, the same venue used for the Snooker Shoot Out.

An unusual format will see the event run from Thursday March 16 to Wednesday March 22.

WST Classic 2023 format

A flat 128-player draw means the format is similar to the Home Nations tournaments. However, there is a difference in the session times.

Apart from the final day, there will be five sessions in a day at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00 and 18:00 respectively. Four matches will take place in each session.

Up to and including the quarter-finals, each match will be best-of-seven frames. The semi-finals will be best-of-nine and the final played over best-of-11.

The final day, on March 22, will see the quarter-finals at 10:00, the semi-finals at 14:00 and the final at 19:00.
