Jose Mourinho offered huge £106m deal to coach Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia – Paper Round

Mourinho to be offered huge Saudi deal

Spanish newspaper Marca reports that Jose Mourinho will be offered 120 million euros to take over the Saudi Arabian national team to replace Herve Renard. However, if he is not interested in taking that two-year deal, he will also have options at club level, potential replacing Rudi Garcia at Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr.

The paper writes: “The offer does not stop there because, apparently, if Mou is not attracted by international soccer, he would be offered to coach Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s team that at the end of the season will probably lose Rudi Garcia, who wants to return to Europe, or the more modest Al-Ahli, currently leaders of the second division.

“According to reports from Italy, Mourinho, who has reportedly already discussed the matter with his coaching staff, would like to stay in Rome and is awaiting a meeting with Ryan Friedkin before making any decision.”

Thiago on Xavi midfield shortlist

Thiago Alcantara has been on the sidelines due to injury at Anfield but that has not stopped Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez from adding him to a five-man shortlist to reinforce the midfield this summer.

Barcelona are set to clinch La Liga this year, and he is looking to improve the team to compete on more fronts in future.

“The midfielder, 31, was joined by Dani Olmo, Xavi Simons, Arnau Martinez and Sergio Gomez,” the Daily Mail reports.

“Thiago played with manager Xavi after breaking into the Barcelona first-team and went on to make 101 senior appearances before leaving for Bayern Munich in 2013.

“RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Olmo came through Barcelona’s academy as a youngster, before departing the club to join Dinamo Zagreb in 2014. Adding the 24-year-old to his squad would provide Xavi with a much-needed option in the final third of the pitch.

“Simons joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, but PSV sealed a permanent transfer for the teenager last summer.

“The highly-rated youngster came through Barcelona’s academy before moving to PSG.

“Gomez joined Manchester City from Anderlecht for an initial £11million in the summer.”

Ancelotti latest name on Chelsea wishlist

Amid yet another managerial search, Chelsea have added another former coach to their list of potential summer replacements.

Carlo Ancelotti may depart Real Madrid, and The Sun believes that he could be in line for a job offer at Stamford Bridge.

The paper writes: “Frank Lampard was named interim boss on Thursday and will take charge until the end of the season.

“That provides Todd Boehly and co. with time to conduct an exhaustive search for a new manager, with the shortlist of suitable candidates ever-growing.

“The latest name to be added to the list is Real Madrid boss Ancelotti.

“Ancelotti is under pressure at Real with Barcelona runaway LaLiga leaders this season.”

United face battle for Frimpong

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is keen on fellow Dutchman Jeremie Frimpong. The 22-year-old right-back is available for £44 million from Bayer Leverkusen, according to The Mirror, and would be willing to move back to Manchester.

The paper believes that Ten Hag wants a new right-sided defender after being left unimpressed by his current options.

“United have their eyes on Frimpong amid his impressive season for Leverkusen. The Dutchman has made 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and notching five assists from right-back,” the report states.

“That has drawn the attention of Ten Hag, who is in the market for a right-back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot failing to impress. The Red Devils have been interested in Frimpong for months and are now stepping up their chase.

“And they have been boosted by claims that the right-back favours a return to Manchester. It is said he ‘loves the city’ following his time there with City, who spotted him playing for a local team.

“Leverkusen are ready to accept a fee in the region of £44million for the 22-year-old, who has two years remaining on his current contract. Both Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also thought to be interested in him, with Frimpong able to take his pick of suitors.”
