William and Harry to be ‘separated’ at coronation to avoid drama: report
If absence makes the heart grow fonder, these embattled royals may need a little more time apart.
Prince William and Prince Harry will attend their father King Charles’ coronation next month. However, the brothers — who have not been seen together since the funeral for Queen Elizabeth II in September — are expected to keep their distance at next month’s crowning event.
The Duke of Sussex, 38, will allegedly be seated several rows behind William, 40, and other senior members of the royal family during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, according to the Daily Express.
Insiders told the publication that the deliberate seating arrangement will be made to prevent the two estranged brothers from having any sort of confrontation or other “awkward encounters” at the event.
The outlet also reported that Harry will probably sit next to his cousins, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
Harry is expected to jet back to his home in Montecito, California, soon after the coronation on May 6, which is also the date of his son Archie’s fourth birthday.
Other members of the Firm may be giving the Invictus Games founder the “cold shoulder” during the coronation, having “no interest in speaking to him apart from exchanging pleasantries,” the source for the Express also said.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward echoed the predicted snub, telling the Sun recently that Harry and the Duke of Cambridge have no plans to reunite during the bash.
“Out of politeness you’d think Harry would want to mingle with his family no matter how difficult that might be for him,” the Majesty magazine editor noted.
“They all have really tight schedules, but it would be nice to stick around and be friendly,” she added.
Seward also claimed that Harry is in communication with Charles, 74, and that they are on the route to reconciliation. “I’m glad he has spoken to his father, which has eased the path to rapprochement. Charles will welcome his son,” she said. “I think his relationship with William is for another time.”
Harry will be headed to the United Kingdom solo, leaving his wife, Meghan Markle, in the United States with Archie and their 1-year-old daughter, Lilibet.
Charles was reportedly “very disappointed” that his daughter-in-law would be missing the big bash.
“The king is happy that Harry, his son, who he calls his ‘darling boy,’ will be at the abbey. He wanted him there,” a source divulged to the Sun earlier this month.
“It is sad, he is very disappointed that he won’t see Meghan or his grandchildren but understands the situation,” the insider said.
This will also be the brothers’ first live meeting since the release of Harry’s shocking memoir, “Spare,” which detailed their intimate family history, including recent spats between him and William.
