Bernardo Silva tips Manchester City to ‘bring home titles’ after reaching Champions League semi-finals

Bernardo Silva says Manchester City are having their “best moment of the season” as they advanced to the Champions League semi-finals for the third season running.

Erling Haaland took his incredible goal tally to 48 goals for the season to put City 4-0 ahead on aggregate, before Joshua Kimmich pulled back a late consolation goal for Bayern.

Man City have now gone 15 games unbeaten in all competitions – winning them all until tonight – and Silva believes their relentless form will help them to get over the line.

“The best moment this season for the team,” he told BT Sport. “We struggled until February because we couldn’t get in that usual run that we had in past years, winning 10, 15, 20 games in a row.

“Now the team is very consistent, the way we’re playing we feel that we have a chance in every competition, and we’re going for that.”

With Man City chasing a potential treble and showing no signs of slowing down, Silva thinks his team are hitting top gear at just the right time.

“Definitely, we know how tough it is to get to this part of the season,” he said. “If you drop your performance for one game, you’re out of one competition.

“We’ll try not to let that happen. It’s going to be tough, but it’s going to be fun.

“When you’re a kid you work to get to these moments to enjoy as a football player, and we’re going to enjoy a lot. Work very hard to bring some titles back home.”

CIty boss Guardiola was delighted to guide his team to the semi-finals for the third straight campaign.

“Yeah, three years in a row in the semi-finals of the Champions League. Against an incredible, incredible team,” he said.

“We struggle in the first half. We were fortunate before the penalty that we missed, that they had one or two chances and anything could happen, but we defended really well in the box, and then our momentum came and the second half was much, much better.”

Man City travel to Wembley to face Sheffield United in the FA Cup next as they look to reach their first final of the season, before hosting Arsenal in a huge match that could determine how the Premier League title race will play out.

“Every time we play in the FA Cup after this competition we are exhausted,” Guardiola explained as he looked ahead to Saturday’s fixture.

“The team is exhausted, so I don’t know how we are going to receiver to play against Sheffield United.

“It’s so demanding.”
