Rick Ross offers Don Lemon job at one of his Wingstops after CNN ouster
Don Lemon’s out of work — but Rick Ross has his back.
The “Aston Martin Music” rapper offered the 57-year-old former news anchor a job at one of his 30 or so Wingstop restaurants in an Instagram Story Tuesday.
CNN canned the sometimes controversial host Monday in a surprise move that Lemon said left him “stunned.”
In his post, Ross said Lemon — a 17-year network veteran — could come man the grill if he was looking for a career change.
“Just found out Don Lemon was terminated from CNN. Damn, dawg,” Ross said. “But guess what? The brother’s got your back.
“We’re hiring at Wingstop, and for some reason, I believe you know what you doing with the lemon-pepper wings, so man, just send over your résumé,” he continued. “I’mma make sure I get you in front of the right grill, brother. Stay solid, brother.”
In another video, Ross said Lemon should lend his semi-famous name to one of Ross’s signature energy drinks.
“Just came up with a wonderful idea — well, really, Don, you helped me come up with this,” Ross said. “I need to hit the team over at Rap Star Energy Drink and let ’em know we should introduce the Don Lemon flavor. What y’all think? Aye, Don, we got you brother!”
CNN let Lemon go after a series of controversies, including when he said in February that Nikki Haley, the 51-year-old former governor of South Carolina and 2024 presidential candidate, was no longer “in her prime.”
He also reportedly fought with his “CNN This Morning” co-hosts Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins and was the subject of a damning Variety magazine report published earlier this month that accused him of a long history of sexist and “diva-like” behavior.
Lemon denied the magazine’s claims and said the story is “riddled with patently false anecdotes and no concrete evidence,” among other things.
CNN hasn’t given an official reason for Lemon’s demise at the network. But it did dispute the former host’s claim that he was told about his firing by his agent, Insider said.
“Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate,” CNN said on Twitter. “He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”
