You can soon play ‘Wheel of Fortune’ at home: Here’s how
“Wheel of Fortune” will soon be getting the online treatment.
The famed game show is set to become an online casino game from Sony Pictures.
The production company has joined forces with BetMGM, the mobile gaming company, and International Game Technology to produce the online Wheel of Fortune Casino in New Jersey later this year, the Hollywood Reporter wrote.
Trivia show already has branded casino games and slot machines in clubs, with 250 versions launched across the country.
“We are delighted to be partnering with BetMGM for the launch of ‘Wheel of Fortune’s very first online casino,” Suzanne Prete, executive VP of game shows at Sony Pictures Television, revealed in a statement.
“With ‘Wheel of Fortune’ celebrating its 40th season this year, we are pleased to continue offering players additional, new ways to play the games they know and love,” she continued.
BetMGM also noted in a memo that it will include “responsible gaming education” as part of the “Wheel of Fortune” casino game through GameSense, an application designed for MGM Resorts by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.
The long-running show will also be going on tour in the near future.
Their first live tour in North America will start on Sept. 8 and will stop at 60 cities across the continent. Areas the show will hit include Memphis, Atlanta, Seattle, Albany, Detroit and Philadelphia.
Guests who are lucky enough to score tickets will have the chance to spin a replica of the colorful “Wheel of Fortune” disk.
Fans will also solve puzzles on the tour’s game board to win a variety of cool prizes from $10,000 to trips to Paris and Hawaii and audience members may also be randomly selected to win cash and gifts.
Hosts for the tour have yet to be announced.
