Royal family ‘wondering why Prince Harry bothered to come’ to Charles’ coronation
Members of the royal family have reportedly been left scratching their heads as to why Prince Harry even bothered showing up to King Charles’ coronation.
The Duke of Sussex spent less than 28 hours in the UK, arriving Friday afternoon and heading back to London’s Heathrow Airport as soon as he stepped foot outside of Westminster Abbey Saturday.
“One makes one’s choices,” a source close to the family told Vanity Fair. “To be honest there wasn’t much talk of Harry at all. The focus was very much on the occasion.”
The fleeting trip has reportedly left the royals questioning the entire point of it, with the insider noting that they wondered “why Harry bothered to come at all.”
Harry, 38, touched down in London on a commercial flight Friday afternoon.
He spent the night at Frogmore Cottage, despite being kicked out earlier this year by Charles so the home could go to his own brother, Prince Andrew.
The duke arrived to King Charles’ coronation at Westminster Abbey solo, sans wife Meghan Markle, 41.
It was the first time he has seen his father since he released his bombshell memoir, “Spare,” in January.
What’s more, it’s reported that Harry didn’t see or speak to his estranged family outside of the ceremony, despite briefly filtering through Buckingham Palace during his quick trip.
Harry slipped “in and out of the monarchy’s headquarters briefly without seeing the royal family,” the Telegraph reported.
At the ceremony, the duke was snubbed with his seating arrangement — having been relegated to the third row in between Eugenie’s husband Jack Brooksbank, and Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin Princess Alexandra.
First-row seats are reserved for full-time working royals, including his estranged brother, Prince William, 40, and wife Kate Middleton, 41.
Harry was seen smiling as he took his seat, though he was blocked by a giant feather atop Princess Anne’s hat.
And just over 24 hours after arriving on home soil, Harry was already en route to Heathrow Airport in a desperate bid to make it to son Archie’s 4th birthday party.
A source told the outlet that Charles was “saddened” he couldn’t share such an important moment with his youngest son.
