14-year-old drives stolen school bus across Nashville

A 14-year-old boy stole a school bus and drove it dozens of miles across Nashville in a wild spree where he hit a diesel fuel pump and tried to run over a person.

Luckily, no injuries were reported, and cops were able to break the windows on the bus and Tase the suspect as he tried to turn around on a major interstate highway to avoid spike strips, according to Nashville Police.

The spree started when the unnamed suspect stole a bus from Kipp College Prep in the Antioch neighborhood of southwest Nashville, cops said.

The brazen young thief then “recklessly” drove seven miles north on Murfreesboro Pike and turned onto Briley Parkway for a nine-mile jaunt across the city, according to police.

The teenage suspect crashed into a diesel fuel pump during his dangerous binge.

He stopped at a gas station, where he drove into a diesel fuel pump and allegedly tried to run over a customer, police said.

From there, the underage joyrider merged onto I-40 West, hitting a car in the process.

He managed to travel another ten miles or so on the interstate at speeds of 60 to 65 miles an hour until he noticed cops had set up a spike strip in the road to slow him down, officials said.

As the fearless suspect attempted to turn around in the middle of the highway and drive against traffic to avoid the strips, cops ran up to the bus, smashed the glass door and Tased him, according to police.

The suspect was undeterred by the ambush and continued to try to drive the bus, but police managed to subdue him and take him into custody, according to a press release.

A tracking of his route online found the teen had driven the bus about 25 miles.

He is now being held in juvenile detention on charges of vehicle theft, aggravated assault, evading arrest, reckless driving, driving without a license, leaving the scene of a crash, and failure to report a crash.
