Whoopi Goldberg bans ‘Fartgate’ on ‘The View’
She’s done being a Whoopi cushion.
Whoopi Goldberg is done speaking about her fart incident on “The View,” claiming “there was never an issue” on Wednesday morning’s episode.
“Before we get started, I want to put something to bed with the two of you [Sunny Hostin and Andy Cohen],” she said. “A sound was made on the table, and that’s what it was. We don’t need to bring it up ever again, anywhere. OK? We’re good?”
“The View” host allegedly let one rip while on the daytime talk show on March 15.
As she reportedly audibly passed gas, her co-hosts could not help but laugh out loud on air, pointing Goldberg out as the culprit.
She quickly claimed her toot, saying “That was gas,” while the audience joined in on the laughter.
Although the EGOT winner owned up to cutting the cheese, many people still questioned if it was her.
During an episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” on April 27, Andy Cohen asked “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin, “Who actually passes gas the most on set?”
She quickly responded: “Whoopi!”
Goldberg did not appreciate Hostin’s comment on the show.
“It just turned into this big thing, and so Whoopi said, ‘Why did you tell everybody I fart all the time?’ and I was like, ‘Because you joke about farting all the time, and I’m across from the table,’” Hostin revealed during Monday’s episode of SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live.”
“I can’t smell it! Whoever smelt it dealt it, so I just had no idea.” The 54-year-old said, “Thanks a lot [Andy], but I mean, Whoopi and I are very close, so she was OK.”
Cohen, 54, apologized to Hostin for causing a rift in her friendship with Goldberg.
A lot of gas has been ripped on the daytime show, more than one can smell.
On the March 21 show, co-host Sara Haines moved her mug, and it made an odd sound.
When Goldberg asked about the noise, Haines responded, “It’s my glass every time I turn it.”
“We get blamed for dropping gas when in fact, it’s a cup,” Goldberg stated.
After allegations of “fart” sounds coming from the stage, the show added coasters to the table so the co-hosts don’t get blamed for the unknown noises.
“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
