UCI Mountain Bike World Series 2023 LIVE – Will Tom Pidcock double up with Cross-country Olympic World Cup win?

Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) – the Olympic champion – is an obvious candidate. And his candidacy is further burnished by the fact he won in 2022 at Nove Mesto.

However, Nino Schurter (SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing Team) is the reigning UCI World Cup overall winner – and an eight-time winner, a 10-time world champion – winning his 2016 world title in Nove Mesto – and the 2016 Olympic champion.

Titouan Carod of France finished second in the World Cup overall standings last season, and won the last two events – at Val di Sole and Mont-Sainte-Anne.

Samuel Gaze (Alpecin-Deceuninck) is the short track world champion and finished second on Friday and should not be discounted.

What has happened thus far this weekend?

Pidcock was fired up as he crossed the line to open his account in style with an emphatic celebration. Samuel Gaze (Alpecin-Deceuninck) of New Zealand came in second with Germany’s Luca Schwartzbauer (Canyon CLLCTV) rounding out the podium.
