Woman found stabbed to death in Brooklyn is city DOHS officer, police sources say

A woman found stabbed to death in her Brooklyn apartment was the mother of two pre-teen girls and a special officer with the city’s Department of Homeless Services, according to police sources and public records.

Theresa Gregg’s 12-year-old twin daughters called 911 Saturday morning when they found her unconscious in her room at the family’s home on Bedford Avenue, between South Third and South Fourth Streets, the sources said.

Police said the 37-year-old woman had been stabbed in the neck and body.

Blood had poured off the mattress and formed a pool on the bedroom floor.

She appears to have been killed during a domestic dispute, sources said.

Neighbors on Sunday said Gregg had a boyfriend — and the couple used to argue frequently.

“I could hear them fighting, both of them yelling,” said one neighbor, who asked that her name not be used. “They fight a lot. You can hear it pretty clear.”

Neighbors said Gregg had a boyfriend, and they frequently argued.

The neighbor also said Gregg had lived in the apartment for about six years.

It was not immediately clear Sunday if cops were looking to speak to Gregg’s unidentified paramour.

According to public data, Gregg was a supervising special officer with DHS and had worked for the agency since at least 2015.

Neighbors lamented her death on Sunday morning.

“I was so shocked yesterday,” said Johanna Hidalgo, who lives downstairs. “Her daughters are so sweet – every morning, they good morning, they’re smiling. So beautiful, so respectful.”
