Al Roker’s recovery update after knee surgery on ‘Today’

Al Roker has shared a health update with fans.

The famed meteorologist, 68, appeared virtually Monday on “Today” to reveal the latest about his recovery from a recent knee replacement surgery.

“It’s Monday, I’m home from the hospital,” joked Roker. “Just another day!”

Roker, who underwent surgery for his knee a second time last week, said that the appendage was still “stiff.”

“This one is a little more complicated because it’s what they call a revision,” explained Roker to his colleagues. “It was a replacement of a replacement, so they had to take stuff out, put stuff in, so it was a bit of a bear.”

The Post reached out to Roker for comment.

The operation comes nearly six months after he was hospitalized for weeks because of blood clots and internal bleeding.

Roker’s medical team discovered that the broadcast vet was suffering from two bleeding ulcers and was forced to resection his colon, remove his gallbladder and redo his duodenum in his small intestine.

In 2020, Roker was also hospitalized after undergoing shoulder replacement surgery.

The TV vet told his co-workers that he has been relaxing since his most recent operation.

“So we’ve just been kind of hanging out. Chilling out, not doing anything — which I know, a lot of people find hard to believe, but in fact, that is the case,” continued Roker.

The “Today” host said that there are several positives to being stuck at home.

Roker revealed that he managed to use his time to catch up on several of his favorite TV shows, including “The Mandalorian,” “Mrs. Davis” and “Poker Face.”

According to Roker, he’s also taken time to be with his family, including senior ABC new correspondent Deborah Roberts, 62, and their son Nick, 20.

“I was being wildly optimistic that we were going to go to one of our [favorite restaurants], Daniel, for Mother’s Day, which is kind of our tradition,” recalled Roker. “But that was not realistic, so we ordered in some quiche and some stuff and just had a nice meal in the backyard here.

“Which was nice, because it was a gorgeous day yesterday,” he explained.

Roker also used his time on the show to thank his “great” physician, Dr. David Mayman, and “all the nurses and staff at Hospital for Special Surgery.”

But when will everyone’s favorite weatherman return to Studio 1A? Well, he still has some work to do and he’s taking everything day by day.

“I still don’t know, I’m hoping, maybe sometime in the next two weeks to be back,” Roker said. “We’ll just play it by ear every day. And that’s the thing. And, yes, I know I’m not going to come back before I have to.”
