After seeking treatment, he looked to carry on in the second set, but he soon retired trailing Etcheverry 6-4 1-0.

The 21-year-old joins Dan Evans as the second Brit to be knocked out in the first round at Roland-Garros.

Cameron Norrie is only other British player in the main draw after both Andy Murray and Kyle Edmund pulled out, while no women qualified for the main draw.

Draper only recently returned from a hip injury and has spent a large amount of time out this season due to abdominal problems.
