French Open: Day 6 order of play and schedule – When are Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka playing?

Day 6 of the French Open is here with some of the biggest names in tennis in action.

The world No. 1 Iga Swiatek cruised into the fourth round with a straight sets win over Claire Liu on Court Philippe-Chatrier while Jannik Sinner was knocked out after a shock second-round defeat to Daniel Altmaier in a five-set epic, 6-7 7-6 1-6 7-6 7-5.

All eyes will now turn to Friday’s contests with Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka prepared to take back to the courts.

Top women’s match – Aryna Sabalenka v Kamilla Rakhimova

Sabalenka cruised into the third round after beating qualifier Iryna Shymanovich 7-5 6-2 with a solid if unspectacular performance in one hour and 22 minutes in her bid for a second Grand Slam title of the year.

Rakhimova, meanwhile, sealed her place with a 6-3 6-4 victory over Magdalena Frech to set up a match with the Australian Open winner. The duo have never met before and it’s set to be an intriguing second match on Philippe Chatrier on Friday.

Top men’s match – Carlos Alcaraz v Denis Shapolova

The world No.1 and top seed at Roland-Garros, Alcaraz, will meet Denis Shapolova in the evening match on Friday.

Alcaraz progressed into the third round of the French Open following a 6-1 3-6 6-1 6-2 win over Taro Daniel and has been tipped to challenge Djokovic for the title on the famous red dirt in Paris.
The 20-year-old has been tipped to make a similar impact on tennis as Tiger Woods had on golf, according to Eurosport expert Mats Wilander – but he faces a tough challenge against the Canadian Shapolova, who was once described by Wilander as a “combination of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer” after defeating the former in the Canadian Open back in 2017.

Brit Watch

Cameron Norrie is Britain’s sole representative in the main draw at Roland-Garros after Dan Evans and Jack Draper went out in the first round.

The 14th-seed eased into the third round after crushing home favourite Lucas Pouille 6-1 6-3 6-3 in one hour and 45 minutes to set up a clash with Italian Lorenzo Musetti, who defeated Alexander Shevchenko 6-1 6-1 6-2.

The pair are the third match on Court Simonne-Mathieu.
