A McFlurry hash brown sandwich
They’re lovin’ it.
A bizarre play on an ice cream sandwich featuring McDonald’s hash browns and a McFlurry has taken the internet by storm.
The strange trend was first sparked by Australian Tiktoker Kelly Arvan of the account @arvanfamily, who posted a video last month making the customized snack in her car after a trip to the fast food chain.
“You know what really upsets me about McDonald’s?” Arvan asked as she confidently spread spoonfuls of an Oreo McFlurry onto the side of a hash brown like butter. “The fact that the cravings can hit you at any time. When you crave something from McDonald’s, nothing else goes close to it.”
Arvan said she was sitting on her couch late at night when she had a sudden hankering for a salty and sweet concoction.
She takes her first audibly crunchy bite and does a little happy dance in her car seat.
“You were worth waiting for,” she says lovingly to the sandwich, holding it up to the camera for viewers to see.
“I dreamt about this,” she added.
Arvan described the sandwich as “Salty, crunch, potato-ey, sweet,” and rated it a perfect “10 out of 10,” in the viral video, which has been viewed over 5.7 million times.
While some TikTok users were turned off by the unique sandwich, many seemed intrigued and willing to dabble.
“Come to think of it it’s the same thing as dipping fries into ice cream,” one user commented on Arvan’s video.
“I’m trying this tomorrow,” another commented.
Others shared their own unorthodox fast food combos.
“Definitely need to try this,” said one user. “I dip my chicken nuggets in the Oreo mcflurry, you should try it!!”
“Nacho cheese Doritos dipped in frosting,” one person commented.
Since Arvan’s video took off, other TikTokers have flocked to the golden arches to give the sandwich a try. Some have found it harder to come by than they’d thought.
TikToker @bechardgrave revealed in a video that she had to drive “to three different McDonald’s to find one that has both soft serve and hash browns available right now.”
After finally getting her hands on the two ingredients, however, she was completely sold.
“This girl’s a genius,” Hardgrave said in reference to Arvan. “This is so good. Do you remember when you were a kid and you used to dip your chips into soft serve? This is like 10 times better than that.”
The Australian branch of McDonalds gave Arvan’s snack their stamp of approval.
The company posted a stitch of Arvan’s, giving her props for the creation.
“Amazing idea @Arvan Family ! Can confirm 11/10,” they commented.
