Which ‘Sex and the City’ man was the worst? Celebs weigh in
It’s the eternal question that has racked the minds of TV viewers and dating experts alike: Mr. Big or Aidan Shaw?
“Sex and the City” is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and celebrity superfans couldn’t help but wonder… which man on the iconic show was the worst?
On Monday, Vanity Fair posted on Instagram, asking that very important question: “Who was the worst man on ‘Sex and the City’?” The post featured a slideshow of many of the men featured on the show, including the girl gang’s past beaus Jack Berger (Ron Livingston), Mr. Big (Chris Noth), Aidan Shaw (John Corbett) and Trey MacDougal (Kyle MacLachlan).
The post quickly gained the attention “SATC” viewers as well as several celebrity fans, who all chimed in with their opinions.
“Big!!!! Ultimate time-wasting vill[ain] and then he kicked the bucket. Boy bye,” wrote actress, director and book publisher Mindy Kaling.
“Jared,” actor and bar owner Justin Theroux voted, cheekily referencing the character he portrayed opposite Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw in Season 1.
“Berger obvs,” British songstress Ellie Goulding suggested.
Broadcaster Katie Couric agreed: “Berger. A cowardly suck wad. (Is that a term?) Also Aiden is way too crunchy. Big— (thumbs up) but… hated Petrovsky.”
“After all is said and done, Mr. Stanford Blatch forever,” Couric concluded, evoking Carrie’s beloved platonic confidant played by the late actor Willie Garson, who died in September 2021 at 57. “Pretrovsky,” meanwhile, refers to Aleksandr Petrovsky (Mikhail Baryshnikov), a world-famous artist that becomes Carrie’s love interest in the final season.
Journalist Eva Chen weighed in by simply quoting a line delivered by Berger in the show: “‘I’m sorry, I can’t, don’t hate me.’”
Kyle MacLachlan, who briefly wed Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) in the show while portraying the role of Trey MacDougal, couldn’t help but vouch for his role despite the character’s flaws.
“Alrighty, I’ll admit. I did give her the cardboard baby, but I think I more than made up for it by leaving her that spectacular apt…and Schooner…for a brief moment,” MacLachlan joked.
The hilarious debate comes ahead of the premiere of Season 2 of the “SATC” reboot “And Just Like That…,” which premieres June 22 on Max.
Last month, The Post exclusively confirmed that estranged cast member Kim Cattrall, who played sexed-up publicist Samantha Jones, will make a cameo in a “cliffhanger” scene for the upcoming season of the Max network spinoff.
The scene allegedly sees Samantha talking to Carrie on the phone — which may come as a surprise to longtime viewers as Cattrall has famously feuded with her former co-stars, particularly Parker, in the press.
Fans can still catch up with the first season of “And Just Like That…” on Max.
