Gunman fires at police in the Bronx, remains on the loose

A man fired off several shots at NYPD officers in the Bronx on Friday night after they spotted him with a gun, police said.

Shortly before 8 p.m., police patrolling East Morrisania saw a man with a firearm on the street near  East 174th Street and Vyse Avenue, an NYPD spokesperson said.

As the cops approached him, the man fired the gun in their direction, police said.

Fortunately, nobody was struck and no injuries were reported.

Witnesses saw the gunman jumping from rooftop to rooftop as he fled, police sources told WABC.

No one was injured in the shooting, police said.

Heavily armed police officers with assault weapons and shields responded to the scene.

NYPD’s aviation unit was also deployed to help track down the suspect, according to the outlet.

No arrests have been made, police said.
