King Charles is ‘keen’ to heal rift with Prince Harry: royal expert
Looks like there could be a family reunion in the works for these royals.
King Charles, 74, is “keen” to heal his rift with son Prince Harry, 38, and his wife, Meghan Markle, 41, according to Daily Express royal reporter and expert Richard Palmer.
During this week’s episode of The Daily Express’ Royal Round Up, Palmer gave this thoughts on the future of their relationship as father and son.
“I’m sure the King would welcome them back,” Palmer alleged during the episode.
“I mean… he’s quite keen to heal that family rift,” he continued. “But, you know, it’s obviously very raw at the moment and it’s very noticeable. While I’d say he’s keen to heal that rift, he hasn’t met his son the last two times he’s been over to the UK.”
The Post reached out to reps for Buckingham Palace for comment.
Over the past few years, the couple have seemingly been at odds with members of the royal family, particularly after the January release of Prince Harry’s bombshell tell-all memoir, “Spare.”
In the book, the Prince alleged that his brother, Prince William, 41, “attacked” him in a supposed November 2019 brawl about Markle.
“He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor,” the 38-year-old claimed in his book.
“I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me,” the passage continued. “I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
Prince Harry alleged that during the fight, his older brother called his wife “difficult,” “rude” and “abrasive.”
In another section, he also branded his brother as his “arch-nemesis,” and detailed the reported falling out between Markle and Kate Middleton, 41, over an alleged comment that the former “Suits” actress had made before her nuptials to Harry in May 2018.
According to US Weekly, Middleton claimed that she was upset by Markle allegedly teasing her that she had “baby brain” after she forgot a detail about their rehearsal timing.
Middleton gave birth to her youngest child, Prince Louis, now 5, just a few weeks before the wedding.
In his book, Prince Harry claimed that Prince William and Markle got into a spat over the comment, which she apologized for, and pointed his finger in her face.
The memoir also covered The Duke’s complicated relationship with his stepmother, Queen Camilla, claiming that she leaked stories to the press about the royal family, leaving her reportedly “furious.”
His mom, Princess Diana, was married to his dad, King Charles, for 15 years, with their divorce finalized in 1996.
She tragically passed away in August 1997 in Paris after a high-speed car crash.
King Charles married Queen Camilla in April 2005, but allegedly was having an affair with her during the time of his marriage to Diana, per Harper’s Bazaar.
A recent report also claimed that King Charles was “sad and bewildered” amid his son’s embattlement with an ongoing legal action against Mirror Group Newspapers.
However, there did seem to be some extension of an olive branch — or at least, an appearance of one — for Father’s Day last week.
On the The Royal Family’s official Twitter account, they posted photos of the three generations, including a snap of King Charles alongside, Prince Harry and Prince William when they were younger.
“To Dads everywhere, we wish you a very special Father’s Day today,” the caption read.
In May, Prince Harry made a return to The United Kingdom to attend his father’s historic coronation ceremony, sans Markle.
However, he only stayed in the country for less than 24 hours, after he rushed home to Montecito, California in time for the fourth birthday of his son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
