Video shows trucker lead cops on wild pursuit in Texas
A Florida trucker has been busted after leading Texas law enforcement on a chaotic pursuit which saw him plow down the wrong side of a highway for miles with a dozen illegal immigrants stashed in his truck, authorities said.
Dramatic dashcam footage captured the driver, Eduardo Aradas, during the high-speed pursuit along the I-35 in La Salle County last week after refusing to stop for a traffic violation, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
Aradas, who allegedly reached speeds of up to 85 miles per hour, could be seen barreling towards incoming traffic for several miles during the June 27 saga. The Texas DPS later said he was on the wrong side of the road for 35 miles.
After eventually veering back onto the correct side of the road, the driver abruptly turned off down a dirt road before clambering out of the truck and trying to flee on foot.
As troopers closed in on the truck, several other people — since identified by authorities as illegal immigrants — could also be seen bailing out of the vehicle.
In total, 12 illegal immigrants were nabbed and turned over to US Border Patrol.
After being cuffed, the driver told troopers he was on his way to San Antonio.
Aradas was taken into custody and charged with reckless driving, evading arrest and smuggling of persons.
