Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa to play mixed doubles at Wimbledon, along with Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa are set to play mixed doubles together at Wimbledon after announcing they are in a relationship.

Rumours of a relationship between the two players started at the French Open when Badosa was spotted in the crowd during one of Tsitsipas’ matches.

They have since gone public – and at Wimbledon will team up on the court for the first time.

Tsitsipas and Badosa have been handed a difficult draw as they take on top seeds Jessica Pegula and Austin Krajicek in the first round.

Tsitsipas and Badosa are not the only couple in the draw.

British No. 1 Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur are also playing together.

The pair have been in a relationship for several years and will face John Peers and Storm Hunter in their first match.

Eurosport’s Laura Robson admitted she is thrilled at the prospect of watching couples in action in mixed doubles at Wimbledon but confessed it be something she would struggle with with her pertner.

“I’m excited to see both of the couples in the mixed doubles draw,” she said. “[Alex] de Minaur and Katie Boulter, they’ve entered as well.

“I think I would struggle to play with my boyfriend purely because you get frustrated if they miss the ball and they probably don’t want to hear any constructive criticism.

“But I’m sure both of those couples will have talked it through before they head out there and they will hopefully enjoy themselves, you would think.

“But at the same time, it’s fun especially for the guys to play a bit of mixed [doubles]. They don’t do it often, especially de Minaur and Tsitsipas – I can’t think of a single time they’ve entered the mixed.

“So, yeah, so hopefully it’s a good one. I’m looking forward to it.”

She added: “I think they’re just gonna enjoy themselves and, hopefully give us some Instagrammable moments.”

Two-time mixed doubles champion Jamie Murray is also playing alongside Taylor Townsend, while there’s an all-British pair as Heather Watson teams up with Joe Salisbury.

Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk will defend their title.

“I haven’t really felt that type of connection with anyone before. I don’t mean to sound cringe or anything because that’s the reality and that’s what I am faced with. I am extremely blessed and happy that this came at this phase of my life.

“I get to do what I love and I get to do it with someone who completely understands me and gets it. I have been very interested in her mind more than anything else.

“Of course there is attraction but it’s also sometimes just a soul interaction and getting to fall in love with her mind. It’s very rare that these things happen.

“It’s like we share the same identity: same lifestyle, same desires, same passions, same ambitions. It’s the same. It’s wonderful to be a part of it and to experience it every day.”
