‘Jeopardy!’ fans cheer Ken Jennings replacing Mayim Bialik
The category is: Celebration.
Fans of “Jeopardy!” rejoiced at the return of Ken Jennings, 49, in an episode that aired Monday after spending weeks slamming the show’s other host Mayim Bialik.
“Ken Jennings is back hosting Jeopardy. All seems right in the world. #Jeopardy,” tweeted one fan.
“No question, Ken is more spontaneous, fluid, and quick-witted #jeopardy,” praised a second person.
Some fans took the time to pressure the show into making Jennings the full-time host.
“Ken Jennings is soooo much better than Mayim Bialik as Jeopardy host. Please don’t let her back on the air,” advised one person.
“Can we just make Ken Jennings the permanent Jeopardy host already?! He’s way more personable than Mayim Bialik,” another added.
“When a contestant gives an answer to a question, Ken Jennings is right on it, not like the somewhat delayed response from Mayim Bialik,” sneered a third, who added that it was “probably because Jennings is so smart and knows about all the answers.”
The Post reached out to Jennings and Bialik for comment.
Episodes for the game show are taped in advance, and Bialik, 47, was originally supposed to host those airing through July 28. However, the “Big Bang Theory” star did not want to cross the picket line due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike and exited during the final week of filming.
She hosted the episode that aired June 30.
Bialik was slammed by die-hard fans last month who claimed that she had inconsistent rules.
The incident occurred during the show’s Double “Jeopardy!” round when the contestants began selecting under the “Presidential Doin’s” category.
“Made Henry Clay Secretary of State; 2 years after the White House, settled into a new House (of Representatives),” read the clue.
When the contestant, Kyle Marshall, rang in with the answer “Who is Adams?,” Bialik asked the player to be “more specific.”
Fans seethed with fury when earlier in the episode Bialik awarded full points to a contestant who simply answered “Harrison” in regard to a question about William Henry Harrison.
Bialik has also been criticized for her seeming long and awkward pause before revealing the answers.
However, several fans have tweeted their support of Bialik.
“We miss Mayim. #Jeopardy,” said one fan.
“I have missed Ken’s delivery but wish he hadn’t crossed the picket line. I respect Mayim joining the strike,” tweeted a second person.
“Jeopardy!” executive producer Michael Davies has also slammed fans for their treatment of Bialik.
“This show is so hard to host,” Davies told Vulture.
“Alex made it his own, but it wasn’t his own the first couple of years,” he continued, referring to the show’s longtime host, Alex Trebek, who died in 2020 at 80. “A lot of what happened on ‘Jeopardy!’ came from him possessing this job for so long. I do read everything, and look, the strongest thing we’ve got is the passion of our fans.”
Davies then urged fans to be “more patient” with the host.
“I stand by the decision to bring Ken in and have Ken be a second host along with Mayim,” the producer stated. “I back both of them. I go to the studio every day and try to make both of them better at hosting the show and make a better program environment around them. They have my full support.”
