Victor Osimhen’s negotiations over a new deal with Napoli are at an impasse which could open the door for Man United and Chelsea to battle for his signature.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a switch away from Serie A for much of the summer, but it had looked like his current club’s President, Aurelio De Laurentiis would get his way and convince the Nigerian to sign a new deal.

However, a disagreement over the release clause could thwart that, according to Goal via Corriere dello Sport.

Napoli want to increase it to £173m, particularly as they are said to have a sell-on agreement with his former club Lille, while Osimhen is keen to see it remain at £100m.

Man United have been in the market for anew forward for most of the window and Osimhen has previously been linked to the Red Devils with his current deal expiring in 2025.
