Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford make weight ahead of blockbuster clash – ‘We’re about to make history’

Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford successfully made weight ahead of their huge welterweight unification clash in Las Vegas, live on TNT Sports Box Office on Saturday night.

It is one of the most highly anticipated fights in recent memory, with both men putting their undefeated records on the line in a bid to unify the division for the first time in the four-belt era.

The stage is now set, the talking is over, and the weigh-ins have been safely navigated by both fighters.

After tipping the scales at 146.8lbs, ‘Bud’ Crawford, the WBO champion, insisted “being myself” is key to getting his hand raised.

“When I become undisputed in two weight divisions it’s going to be great,” a confident Crawford said.

“We’re about to make history. The better man going to win tomorrow.

“My city love me just like I love my city, I appreciate every single one of them that came out to support.

“This is what us high-class fighters deserve. We’re both putting our life on the line to entertain each and every one of you all.”

As for what it would take to reign victorious and stake a strong claim as boxing’s pound-for-pound king, Crawford added: “Being myself.”

Spence Jr., who weighed in bang on the 147lb limit, was equally confident in his prediction.

The IBF, WBA and WBC champion also said it was time for him “to put on the biggest show” and that Crawford should be grateful the pair are set to square off under the bright lights of Vegas.

“It’s beautiful just having people coming out and supporting us,” Spence Jr. said. “It’s huge and now it’s time for me to put on the biggest show tomorrow night.

“He need to thank me for making this happen. Of course I made it happen. I gave him more money, you see we did a coin toss [to decide who entered the weigh-in arena first].

“It’s Spence-Crawford, it ain’t Crawford-Spence so why I got to do a coin toss.”

And when quizzed on what he needs to do to win, Spence Jr. – in a similar vein to his opponent – said: “Be me”.
