Georgia woman Lindsay Shiver arrested in Bahamas in alleged plot to kill former Auburn football player Robert Shiver
A Georgia mother of three was arrested and charged in the Caribbean for allegedly plotting to kill her estranged husband, a former Auburn University football player, according to reports.
Lindsay Shiver, 36, was caught when Bahamian police accidentally stumbled on her alleged scheme to murder Robert Shiver, 38, when they had been investigating a different case, Bahamas Court News reported.
Two men, Terrance Bethel, 28 — identified by the outlet as Lindsay Shiver’s lover — and Faron Newbold, were also arrested.
Local police unearthed texts which detailed the plot while they searched the phone of a suspected burglar at Grabber’s Bar and Grill in Great Guana Cay, Bahamas earlier this month.
It wasn’t immediately known which of Shiver, Bethel or Newbold owned the phone.
Robert and Lindsay Shiver own a house in the Bahamas, near where she met her alleged lover Bethel, a source familiar with the case told the Thomasville Times-Enterprise.
Robert Shiver, who was a snapper for the Auburn Tigers from 2006-2008, had also filed for divorce upon finding out Lindsay Shiver was involved in a romantic relationship with Bethel, the outlet added.
According to WTVY, Lindsay Shiver allegedly paid a hitman to carry out the murder.
Following their arrest, Lindsay Shiver, Bethel and Newbold were transported from Guana to the country’s capital, Nassau.
They appeared in court on Friday but were not required to enter a plea, the outlet shared.
The trio is due back in court on Oct. 5, according to the outlet.
Lindsay Shiver’s Instagram account revealed that the couple met during a fitness class at Auburn University in 2007.
“So thankful for that fitness class 13 years ago that brought us together and all of the love, laughter, and life we have created ever since! I love you babe. Cheers to many more,” Lindsay Shiver wrote in the caption of a 2020 post with an array of photos — one of which featured them on their wedding day.
Before being accused of orchestrating her husband’s killing, Lindsay Shiver was named Miss Houston County in 2005, finishing second in the National Peanut Festival pageant that year, according to the outlet.
Following his career with Auburn University, Robert Shiver signed with Atlanta Falcons as a free agent but was cut before the start of the 2009 season.
Robert Shiver is listed as the executive vice president of Senior Life Insurance Company in Thomasville, Ga.
