Los Angeles security guard Daniel Sandifer killed by mob outside Dragonfly Hollywood nightclub
A Hollywood security guard was brutally beaten by a mob of seven to 11 men outside of the nightclub he was working at Sunday morning as he was left for dead on the sidewalk.
Daniel Sandifer, 32, was working his security guard shift at the Dragonfly Hollywood nightclub at 2 a.m. when a group of men approached the security guard moments to ignite a heated confrontation, according to ABC7.
The pack of suspects pounced on the defenseless Sandifer, who fell to the ground during the exchange.
Los Angeles Police did not indicate a motive for the disturbing attack which left Sandifer unconscious and unable to breathe.
They estimate the group’s size to be between 7 and 11 people in their 20s.
The suspects fled the area on foot and have yet to be captured, but investigators believe there were plenty of witnesses to the attack, as the club was nearing its closing time.
Sandifer, a father of two from Compton, Calif., was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Sandifer’s ex-wife, Brittany Jones, said she was heartbroken after learning her children’s father was killed while he was working.
“This saddens me for real,” Jones told KCAL News. “As the mother of his kids, this hurts in so many ways, y’all have no clue.”
She even pleaded for witnesses to Sandifer’s horrifying attack to come forward and help with the ongoing investigation.
“If anyone has any information, I ask that you give that information and try to get justice for Daniel,” Jones added.
Sandifer worked at the nightclub while he served as his ailing grandmother’s primary caregiver, according to the LA Times.
Evette Sandifer told the outlet her cousin was a “hardworking man who dedicated his time to his grandmother, who is in hospice care.”
The Dragonfly Hollywood, located a mile south of Sunset Boulevard, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, was hosting Detroit-born rap star, Tee Grizzley, as a part of the club’s “Signature Saturdays.”
The nightclub took to social media to say it will remain closed following Sandifer’s death.
“As we begin to process and mourn the loss of our colleague, Dragonfly will be closed. Our hearts are with his family at this time,” the Instagram post read.
