Dealership on death of Katharine McPhee and David Foster’s nanny
The California car dealership where the nanny for Katharine McPhee and David Foster was killed said it is “fully cooperating” with the Los Angeles Police Department as it tries “to learn from this incident so we can prevent such tragedies in the future.”
“We extend our deepest condolences to Yadira’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” Megan Maybee, director of communications for Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills, told Us Weekly in a statement Thursday.
“The loss of such a vibrant life in such tragic circumstances is a heavy burden to bear, and we share in their grief.”
The Post has reached out to the dealership for comment.
Yadira Calito, 55, died after she was struck on Aug. 9 by a Toyota RAV4 driven by an 84-year-old woman who crashed into Hamer Toyota’s customer reception area. Calito cared for Rennie, the 2-year-old son of McPhee and Foster.
According to the LAPD, the elderly driver hit the gas instead of the brakes, reportedly pinning Calito under her vehicle and dragging her 20 feet. Calito died at the hospital.
The driver, a resident of Mission Hills, was not injured — but she caused non-life-threatening injuries to two male Toyota employees, a 23-year-old and a 35-year-old, police said.
The driver has reportedly not been arrested in relation to Calito’s death.
McPhee, 39, and Foster, 73, announced Friday that there had been “a horrible tragedy” in their family, prompting the “American Idol” alumna to leave the couple’s “David Foster and Friends” tour in Asia.
“Dearest Jakarta fans, it’s with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final two shows of our Asia run,” the “Terrified” singer shared on Instagram.
“David [Foster] and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us need to get back home to our family. Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all. Love Katharine.”
McPhee and Foster wed in 2019. They welcomed Rennie in February 2021.
