Joao Cancelo set to become Barcelona player this week, Tottenham ready to see Eric Dier leave – Paper Round
Cancelo set for City departure
Spanish newspaper Marca believes that Barcelona will sign Joao Cancelo from Manchester City this week, in a deal that will see him leave initially on loan.
“The Catalan club and Manchester City are negotiating a season-long loan for the full-back with an option to buy for an amount that is currently being discussed.
“Xavi has approved the signing of the Portuguese player and said no to Fresneda. There have been talks with the Real Valladolid player for several months, but he now knows the Blaugrana won’t be signing him.
“The Blaugrana spoke with Jorge Mendes, Cancelo’s representative, and told him of Barcelona’s intentions with the defender. Now the agent is negotiating Cancelo’s exit with the English club. All parties are very optimistic that the deal will be completed.”
Tottenham ready to see Dier leave
The Mail reports that Eric Dier could be on his way to Fulham this week as the transfer window deadline approaches.
“The 29-year-old has been omitted from new manager Ange Postecoglou’s squad for their opening two weeks of the Premier League season.
“It was the latest snub for the England international after the Australian manager also decided against giving him the captain’s armband – handing it to Son Heung-min after Harry Kane was sold, with Hugo Lloris set to follow him out of the door.
“Dier has one year left on his contract and Postecoglou has appeared to make it clear that the defender is not part of his plans.
“Fulham’s interest in Dier meanwhile comes as they expect Tosin Adarabioyo to leave the club before the transfer window closes.”
Chelsea struggling with Lukaku exit
The Telegraph reports that Chelsea are facing a tough task to get rid of Romelu Lukaku despite interest from Juventus.
“Lukaku is training with Chelsea’s Under-21s and has not even spoken to head coach Mauricio Pochettino, having reiterated his desire to leave Stamford Bridge after returning from a season on loan at Inter Milan.
“Having seen Lukaku reject a huge offer to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal early in the transfer window and effectively sabotage a potential return to Inter, Chelsea are currently still refusing to allow the 30-year-old to leave the club on loan for a second successive summer which has severely cut down his options with just over a week of the transfer window left to run.
“Interest in Lukaku is thin on the ground, with Juventus currently the only club actively keen on the Belgian but the club are refusing to sanction a deal unless they can get striker Dusan Vlahovic off the wage bill.”
