Sergio Ramos set for ‘bombshell’ Sevilla return 18 years after leaving – Paper Round
Ramos to return to Sevilla in ‘bombshell of transfer market’
The Spanish outlet claims the former Real Madrid defender was set to join Al-Ittihad for two years, until “a call from the Andalusian club has stopped everything”.
Ramos is a free agent since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. He came through Sevilla’s youth academy before joining Real Madrid in September 2005.
“Now it is closer than ever for Sergio to fulfil a dream with his return to the Estadio Sanchez-Pizjuan, where he was always given a hostile reception as a Real Madrid player,” the report states.
“A new era could begin for Ramos. At 37 years of age, he will arrive to lead Sevilla’s defence. Jose Luis Mendilibar had asked for a defender and no one is better than Ramos for the role. The Andalusians have one more free space and the No. 4 available. It seems that shirt already has a name and surname.”
Walker admits he was ‘close’ to joining Bayern
Kyle Walker has admitted he was “close” to making the move from Manchester City to Bayern Munich.
Walker was left out of the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan as speculation heated up about his future at the Etihad.
“Would I have enjoyed the experience? Of course I would have done. But this club is a great club and you can’t underestimate what this club has done in the last six or seven years.”
Palhinha’s move to Bayern ‘just postponed’
Fulham have “just postponed” Joao Palhinha’s move to Bayern Munich, according to his brother and agent.
The Portugal international was reportedly on the brink of joining the Bundesliga champions but the deal fell through.
The agent praised the “respect, honesty and professionalism’ shown by Bayern and added: “Words of appreciation, recognition and thanks to the entire Bayern structure. The affection for the club in our family will remain forever even though my brother didn’t sign.”
Gray could be off to Saudi Arabia
Al-Shabab could land Everton’s Demarai Gray this week.
Gray has fuelled speculation about his future at The Toffees with an Instagram post in which he wrote: “Everton fans have always been great with me but it’s so difficult to play for someone who don’t show you respect as a person.”
Gray was not involved in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in the Premier League on Saturday, a game shown live on TNT Sports.
