Queen Elizabeth ‘had high hopes’ for Meghan Markle, Princess Kate’s teamwork: expert
The late Queen Elizabeth II had “high hopes” for the leading ladies in Prince William and Prince Harry’s life to work together, a royal expert claimed.
Royal author Ingrid Seward suggested Her Late Majesty, whose family marked the one-year anniversary of her death Friday, would have wanted to see Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton join forces in the royal fold.
“Prince Harry’s place in the royal family has changed dramatically since the death of his grandmother and his father became King,” Seward told The Mirror.
“Instead of the prominent role, he would have had, Harry was relegated to the bottom of the royal list. Almost but not quite an outsider.”
“The Queen had high hopes that the foursome might spearhead the monarchy of the future. Sharing the sometimes demanding, duller duties and supporting their father into the future when she was no longer around,” she added.
Seward, who penned the 2003 biography “William & Harry,” claimed the late monarch was “deeply saddened” when Harry and Meghan quit the royal family and hightailed it across the pond to the US.
“The Queen has always preferred the company of light-hearted young people like her grandson Harry, to that of intellectuals,” Seward shared.
“Harry would be the first to admit that his expensive private school education gave him nothing more than a quick wit and an excellent talent for mimicry,” the royal expert continued.
“But he always ‘got it’ and provided great cheer to those he met on official royal engagements. And so did Meghan. She smiled, pressed flesh and hugged the public in an all-embracing way.”
“They were a perfect foil for William and Kate, who were polished and professional but still full of laughter,” she added.
It’s no secret that tensions between Harry and his estranged family have been at an all-time high in recent years.
Things took a turn for the worse following the January release of his tell-all memoir, in which he alleged his father branded him the “spare” since birth.
In a desperate bid to repair their soured relationship with Prince William, the Sussexes are hoping to rent an apartment in Kensington Palace, according to a report.
