President Biden spotted with first lady and daughter Ashley at swanky NYC eatery ahead of UN Assembly
President Biden went out for dinner with his family at a swanky New York City restaurant Sunday as he arrived in the Big Apple ahead of the UN General Assembly.
The president, First Lady Jill Biden and their daughter Ashley Biden were seen leaving Tuscan eatery II Cantori Restaurant in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village Sunday night, according to photos.
The first family left the White House Sunday evening and landed at JFK Airport via Air Force One later that night.
Biden’s trip from the Queens airport to downtown Manhattan created traffic jams all along the way as authorities cleared the streets to make way for his motorcade.
The city Department of Transportation issued a gridlock alert with extensive street closures to warn New Yorkers of the impact of Biden’s and other countries’ leaders’ visit for the annual assembly.
Biden is expected to talk with the leaders of Brazil, Israel and Ukraine this weekend and is the only member of the five-nation UN Security Council leaders who will be in attendance.
The other council leaders like Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak are skipping the annual gathering, in addition to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of the United Arab Emirates Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
While Biden is networking with other countries’ heads, he is facing a crisis back home as House Speaker Kevin McCarthy ordered an impeachment inquiry into his presidency over his alleged involvement in his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business deals.
