Fetterman and MTG spar over Senate dress code and ‘ding-a-ling pics’
Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) got into it on social media Monday, with Greene ripping Fetterman-induced changes to the Senate’s dress code and the Democrat knocking Greene for displaying Hunter Biden’s “ding-a-ling pics.”
Greene, 49, who showed off NSFW pictures of the first son during a House Oversight Committee hearing back in July, dressed down Fetterman, 54, after news broke that his now-familiar shorts-and-sweatshirt attire was fit for the Senate floor.
“The Senate no longer enforcing a dress code for senators to appease Fetterman is disgraceful,” Greene posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Dress code is one of society’s standards that set etiquette and respect for our institutions. Stop lowering the bar!”
“Thankfully, the nation’s lower chamber lives by a higher code of conduct: displaying ding-a-ling pics in public hearings,” Fetterman clapped back.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) confirmed Sunday he had directed the chamber’s Sergeant-at-Arms to stop enforcing the dress code for senators, which previously required men to wear coats and ties.
The change has already been dubbed the “Fetterman Rule” due to the Pennsylvania’s penchant for wearing hoodies or loose button-down shirts and large baggy shorts.
The new dress code means that Fetterman can now cast his votes on the Senate floor in full view of the clerk and C-SPAN cameras — after previously shouting “aye” or “nay” from the doorway to the chamber.
“Senators are able to choose what they wear on the Senate floor. I will continue to wear a suit,” Schumer explained in a statement, per Axios.
The revised code does not apply to staffers.
Fetterman’s response to Greene alluded to her questioning of IRS whistleblower Joseph Ziegler during a House Oversight Committee hearing in which she put the first son on full display and suggested he violated federal anti-human trafficking laws.
Greene began her questioning session with a “parental discretion is advised” content warning and then proceeded to show off X-rated images of Hunter lifted from his notorious laptop.
Fetterman defeated Dr. Mehmet Oz last year to flip Pennsylvania’s Senate seat to Democratic control and give Democrats a 51-49 advantage in the upper chamber.
Earlier this year, he checked himself into the hospital twice — once for lightheadedness and then for clinical depression.
Fetterman has since returned to the Senate, but is still enduring auditory processing issues from a stroke he suffered in May 2022.
